Watch the energy line, because it moves on its own

That matters for a maintenance budget because a rising bill is ambiguous. It might be a failing component, or it might be weather and tariffs. Weather-normalized tracking, comparing energy use per degree day rather than dollars, is what separates the two. Without it, households either ignore real faults or call a technician about a cold January.
